Workshops & Social Innovation

Hi, I’m Mónica

Creativity has been my safe place for as long as I can remember - not the artistic kind, but the kind that appears when life gives you no choice but to reinvent yourself. When the ground felt unstable, I built my own.

By the age of 21, I had lived in 4 countries and 12 cities - a charming average of… constantly starting over. What could have been pure instability actually made me creative. I invented stories, created games, imagined future worlds, and solved problems with whatever I had at hand: a bit of imagination, a lot of empathy, and a stubborn desire to do things differently.
As an adult, I realized that creativity wasn’t just a survival tactic, it was my engine, my compass, my way of moving through the world.

What I’ve done along the way
In the last 25 years:

  • I worked as a coordinator at the Portuguese Youth Institute and at the Youth Information Desk (PIJ) of Lisbon’s first Citizens’ Shop, where I supported young people with information on civic engagement, associations, and youth initiatives.

  • I led the corporate department in Lisbon for Exit, an online travel portal

  • I founded a language school officially licensed and recognized by the Ministry of Education and the British Council.

  • I coordinated teams in both public and private organizations.

  • I co-founded two non-profit organizations (in the 2000s and in 2007) focused on adult mental health prevention, training and inclusion of people with disabilities, and support for children and young people with Dyslexia and ADHD. One of them is a social solidarity institution (IPSS) with a training center for people with disabilities and impairments.

  • I’ve worked with universities, NGOs, freelancers, women in transition, tired dreamers, and people who simply needed someone to believe in them.

  • My background is in Tourism and Languages, studied between Italy and Portugal., i also specialized in Translation and Subtitling (with 25 years of experience), studied Tourism Marketing, and completed a postgraduate in Business Design (IADE).
I trained in Design Thinking (IDEO online). I study Psychology. I’m a certified trainer (CAP/CCP).

    I’m a lifelong student.

And I learned that creativity isn’t an “inborn talent.” It’s a muscle, a lens, a lifeline — and sometimes, a salvation.

How Creativology was born
Creativology is the next chapter in a journey shaped by two earlier projects:

You Design Think: where I explored design thinking as a social tool, running workshops with master’s students in social-solidarity institutions.

Creativ.U: where I helped women entrepreneurs and microbusinesses reinvent themselves.

Today, Creativology is my living laboratory. A space where I study and practice creativity applied to real life. A place where creativity meets human development, created for those who want to think differently, live with more purpose, explore new possibilities, and turn ideas into action.

What I believe
I believe creativity is universal. It doesn’t belong only to artists, nor is it just an innovation tool for businesses. It’s a way of living, of solving problems, of finding meaning. It gives us the freedom to think, dream, and act with more humanity and intention.
At Creativology, we explore that potential through workshops with professionals from complementary fields, retreats, games, mentoring, and content that speaks to both the heart and the mind.
I have a soft spot for good conversations, for people who try again, for unlikely ideas, and for those who believe the world can still change.
Even if the change starts small - inside their own inner world.
And honestly? That’s where everything truly begins.
